Better Hearing & Speech Month 2018

Better Hearing & Speech Month 2018

May is here, and it’s time to get ready for Better Hearing and Speech Month!

The American Speech/Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) has designated each May to increasing awareness of the development and support of speech, language, literacy and hearing for every age.

Did you know that Early Intervention is the term used to describe seeking support services for a child anywhere between the ages of birth to three years of age? As a result, states provide services such as developmental therapy, occupational therapy as well as aural rehabilitation and speech/language therapy to children who qualify and fall within these age ranges.

Whether a family chooses Early Intervention through the state services or a private provider, the important fact is that the family is choosing to get started early in their child’s development. Research shows Early Intervention is necessary and important to reducing a child’s challenges with communication, hearing, reading and overall engagement in their learning process.

Contact your state to learn more about Early Intervention services, or call Mobile Therapy Centers to learn more!
